Full Description:
Community Workshop - March 11 at 7:00 p.m.
Rose Canyon, also known as the flower fields, is a favorite spot for residents who enjoy hiking, walking and biking trails. The City of Rancho Santa Margarita is interested in designating Rose Canyon as a passive use park.
Passive parks may include hiking and walking trails, picnic and sitting areas, general open space and "people watching" areas. The intent of this project is to maintain the natural beauty of this parcel of land and to enhance the site through plating trees and native vegetation, constructing trails and adding benches.
A community workshop will be held on Thursday, March 11 at 7:00 p.m. at the Bell Tower Regional Community Center to provide information about the project and to receive comments from the public.
Rose Canyon is a vacant parcel of land located north of the intersection of Avenida de las Flores at the end of Antonio Parkway. "The City believes that since this site is currently being used in practice as a passive park that it would be appropriate to designate the property as such," shares Nate Farnsworth, Planner for the City of Rancho Santa Margarita. "This is consistent with similarly utilized properties in the City, such as Heritage Dive Trailhead in Robinson Ranch.
